East Asia Summit (EAS) Hackathon on Combatting Marine Plastic

Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Tham Borg Tsien attended the East Asia Summit (EAS) Hackathon “Combatting Marine Plastic” held from 13 to 16 December 2022. It was co-organised by Australia, India, and Singapore, with support from Asia Foundation, ASEAN Foundation, and Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The Hackathon saw the participation of youths from 13 EAS Participating Countries, namely Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The team from Cambodia emerged as the first-place winner, while Republic of Korea and Malaysia took the second and third places respectively. The Hackathon gave youths in the region the opportunity to explore innovative solutions to tackle the issue of marine plastic.
