The inaugural issue of “The ASEAN” was launched last Thursday. The e-issue is attached and the softcopy link is https://bit.ly/TheASEAN_v1
The theme was “A Shared Identity: Becoming ASEAN”. The issue included messages from ASEAN Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General and Ambassador of India to ASEAN.
The prominent pieces that related to ASEAN Identity included:
Interview with Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi
Focus was on ASEAN Identity and FM drew attention to Indonesia taking the lead to formulate the Narrative of ASEAN Identity;
SOMED Chair Hilmar Farid, Indonesia DG of Culture
Highlighted the need for collaborative efforts in cultural ecosystem to foster ASEAN Identity; and
Academic Dr Farish A. Noor
Advocating for the need for Southeast Asians to learn more about their region
