Project Launching of the Non-State Actor Coalition of Excellence for Peatland Management (SUPA Launch)

PR Mission participated in the launch of Non-State Actor Component of the Sustainable Use of Peatland and Haze Mitigation in ASEAN (SUPA) programme, which was attended by   ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and EU Ambassador to ASEAN Igor Driesmans at the ASEAN Secretariat today.  The programme, amounting to EUR 24 million in total, aims to promote sustainable management of peatlands in the ASEAN region and mitigate transboundary haze pollution, sustain local livelihoods, and reduce the risk of fire and associated haze, thereby contributing to global environmental management.  It also contributes to conservation of the unique peatland ecosytems biodiversity.
