Joint Statement of the Fourth East Asia Summit Education Ministers Meeting

1.    The Fourth East Asia Summit Education Ministers Meeting (4th EAS EMM) was held on 1 November 2018 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, in conjunction with the Tenth ASEAN Education Ministers Meeting (10th ASED) and the Fourth ASEAN Plus Three Ministers Meeting (4th APT EMM). The Meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister of Education of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

2.    We reaffirm our commitment to foster long-term and mutually beneficial education cooperation through the alignment and complementation of the 14 priority areas of cooperation under the education component of the Manila Plan of Action to Advance the Phnom Penh Declaration on the East Asia Summit Development Initiative (2018-2022) with the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2016–2020, in addition to further exploring internship opportunities for ASEAN youth in the corporations and companies of the EAS participating countries.
