THE 48th ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTERS’ MEETING, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 4 AUGUST 2015

               Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam attended the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 4 August 2015.

               The ASEAN Foreign Ministers reviewed the progress of ASEAN’s Community-building efforts, as well as took stock of the High Level Task Force’s work on developing the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision.  They also discussed the evolving regional architecture, ASEAN’s external relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues, including recent developments in the South China Sea and the irregular movement of persons within the region.

              The Meeting also welcomed increased interest from external parties to enhance engagement with ASEAN.  Minister Shanmugam will attend the Post-Ministerial Conferences with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners on 5 August 2015.
