MFA Press Statement: 46th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Post Ministerial Conferences and 20th ASEAN Regional Forum, 29 June to 2 July 2013
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu, will lead the Singapore delegation to the 46th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) and the 20th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, from 29 June to 2 July 2013.
At the 46th AMM, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will discuss the future direction of ASEAN, the evolving regional architecture and ASEAN’s external relations. In addition, they will exchange views on regional and international issues. Our Ministers will engage their counterparts on ways to tackle the haze issue. At the PMCs, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will meet their counterparts from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners (namely, Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and the United States) to review relations and on-going cooperation. The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also engage their counterparts at the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) and the East Asia Summit (EAS) meetings on regional developments and progress on their partnerships to realise ASEAN Community-building goals. On 2 July 2013, the ARF Ministers will exchange views on key regional developments.
Ministers Shanmugam and Fu will also have bilateral meetings with several of their counterparts.
