HAINAN, 11 April 2018 – ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr. Liu Zhenmin at the sidelines of the Bo’ao Forum for Asia Annual Conference today.
ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim and Under-Secretary-General Liu reaffirmed commitment to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and the UN by giving greater attention to economic and sociocultural areas, such as climate change, in line with the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Both sides noted key areas of complementarities in this regard.
Under-Secretary-General Liu reiterated the UN’s support to ASEAN in cooperation projects in key areas and looked forward to discussions at the next ASEAN-UN Ministerial Meeting at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2018.
