H.E. Le Luong Minh, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, in a letter to the
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, expressed his deep concern
over the disappearance of Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501

JAKARTA, 31 December 2014 – Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh expressed his deep concern over the recent tragedy of Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501.

In a letter addressed to Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L. P. Marsudi,
Secretary-General Minh expressed confidence in the on-going search and rescue
operations led by the Government of Indonesia, in cooperation with other ASEAN
Member States and the international community. The Secretary-General hoped that the spirit of ASEAN solidarity would be a source of strength through these
difficult times, and extended his prayers for the family and friends of the
passengers and crew members on board flight QZ8501.
